You created your Blogger account. You know the dashboard. Now it’s time to write your first blog post.
In this tutorial, you’ll publish a real post on Blogger in 2025. We’ll cover titles, text, images, labels, and how to make it show on your NewsPlus homepage.
Step 1: Open the Blogger Post Editor
- Go to blogger.com → Sign in
- Left menu → Click “New Post” button
- You’ll see the post editor. This is like Microsoft Word for blogs.

Step 2: Write a Post Title That Gets Clicks
At the top, click “Post title” and type your headline.
Good title formula for beginners: How to + Action + Result
Examples:
- How to Create a Blog on Blogger for Free
- How to Fix Blogger Template Errors Without Coding
- Blogger SEO Settings 2025: Complete Beginner Guide
Bad titles: “My First Post”, “Hello World”, “Test”. Nobody searches for that. Google ignores it.
For practice, use this title now: My First Blogger Post: Hello 2025
Step 3: Write Your Post Content
Click in the big white box and start typing. Use these rules:
1. Use Headings H2 and H3
Don’t write one big wall of text. Break it up.
- Highlight text → Top bar → Click “Normal” dropdown → Choose “Heading” for H2
- Use “Subheading” for H3
Example structure:
H2: Why I Started This Blog Normal text paragraph here... H2: What You’ll Learn Here H3: Blogger Tutorials H3: SEO Tips Normal text...
Why: NewsPlus auto-makes a Table of Contents from your H2/H3. Plus Google ranks posts with headings higher.
2. Add Paragraphs and Lists
Hit Enter twice to make space between paragraphs. For lists, click the bullet icon in the top bar.
Example:
- First point
- Second point
- Third point
3. Add Images
1. Place cursor where you want image
2. Top bar → Click image icon
3. Choose “Upload from computer” → Pick image
4. After upload, click image → Choose size “Medium” and alignment “Center”
Important: After inserting image, click it → “Properties” → Add “Alt text”. Example: blogger dashboard screenshot 2025. This helps SEO.
4. Add Links
1. Highlight text like Google Analytics
2. Click link icon in top bar
3. Paste URL → Check “Open this link in a new window” → OK
Use links to connect your posts. Example: In this post, link to Post #1: How to Create a Blogger Account.
Step 4: Add Labels So Post Shows on Homepage
This is the #1 mistake beginners make. No labels = post won’t show on NewsPlus homepage sections.
1. Right side → Find “Labels”
2. Click it → Type: Basics, First Post
3. Hit Enter. Done.
Rule: Every tutorial post needs at least 1 label. Use: Basics, Templates, SEO, Monetization, Fixes
Step 5: Add Search Description for Google
1. Right side → “Search Description”
2. Paste 150 characters describing this post. Example:
Writing my first blog post on Blogger in 2025. Learn how to add titles, text, images, and labels. Step-by-step beginner guide.
This shows under your link in Google search results.
Step 6: Preview Before Publishing
Top right → Click “Preview”. Check:
- Do H2 headings look big?
- Are images centered?
- Does Table of Contents appear at top? NewsPlus adds it auto if you have 2+ H2.
- Any spelling errors?
Step 7: Publish or Schedule Your Post
Top right → Click “Publish” dropdown arrow.
Option 1: Publish now → Click “Publish” → Your post is live
Option 2: Schedule → Click “Schedule” → Pick date 05/06/2025, 8:00 AM → “Schedule”. Blogger auto-posts it for you.
Pro tip: Use Schedule for all 200 posts. Write 10 posts on Sunday → Schedule them every 2 days. Your blog runs itself.

FAQ: First Blogger Post
How long should my first post be?
300-500 words is perfect. Google likes posts over 300 words. This post you’re reading is 1100 words.
Can I edit after publishing?
Yes. Posts → Click your post → Edit → Update. Google will see the changes in 1-2 days.
Why isn’t my post on the homepage?
3 reasons: 1. You forgot Labels. 2. Your NewsPlus section looks for label Featured but you used Basics. 3. You published as “Page” not “Post”. Pages don’t show in blog feed.
Can I delete this test post later?
Yes. Posts → Hover on post → Trash icon. But don’t delete. Just edit it later into a real tutorial.
