Editing HTML or installing a new template can break your blog. One wrong code = white screen of death.
In this tutorial, you'll backup your Blogger theme and restore it in 1 click if anything goes wrong. Follow along and you'll never lose your design again.

Step 3: When Should You Backup Your Theme?
| Before This Action | Why Backup? | Risk If No Backup |
| Installing new template | New XML overwrites everything | Lose old design forever |
| Edit HTML | One typo breaks layout | White screen, no blog access |
| Adding custom CSS | Bad CSS hides content | Blog looks broken to readers |
| Deleting widgets | Gadgets gone from Layout | Must rebuild sidebar manually |
Step 4: Where to Store Backup Files Safely
- Google Drive: Upload XML → Create "Blogger Backups" folder
- Computer: Save in Documents → New folder "Blog Backups"
- Email yourself: Attach XML → Send to your Gmail → Search "blogger backup"
- Multiple copies: Keep 3 backups: before major change, monthly, yearly
Bad practice to avoid: Saving backup only on Blogger. If your account gets hacked, you lose backup too.
Step 5: What Gets Saved in Theme Backup?
Included: HTML structure, CSS styles, Layout gadgets, Theme settings
NOT Included: Blog posts, pages, comments, images, Settings like Title/Description
To backup posts: Settings → Manage blog → Back up content → Download posts XML
Important: After restoring theme, go to Layout → Check if widgets moved. Some templates reset sidebar gadgets. Re-add them manually if missing.
