You created your Blogger account. You know the dashboard. Now it’s time to write your first blog post that actually ranks on Google.
In this tutorial, you’ll publish a real post using H2 headings, images, labels, and SEO settings. Follow along and you’ll have a post live in 10 minutes.
Step 1: Open the Blogger Post Editor
- Go to blogger.com → Sign in
- Left menu → Click orange button “New Post”
- You’ll see the post editor. It looks like Microsoft Word.

Step 2: Write a Post Title That Gets Clicks
At the top, click where it says “Post title” and type your headline.
Good title formula: How to + Action + Result + Year
Examples that rank:
- How to Add Images to Blogger Posts 2025
- How to Fix Blogger Template Errors Without Coding
- Blogger SEO Settings 2025: Complete Beginner Guide
Bad titles to avoid: “My First Post”, “Hello World”, “Test”. Nobody searches for that. Google will ignore you.
For your first post, use this title: My First Blogger Post: Hello 2025
Step 3: Write Your Post Content Using H2 Headings
Never write one big wall of text. Google and readers hate it. Break your post into sections.
How to Add H2 and H3 Headings
- Type your section title like
Why I Started This Blog - Highlight the text
- Top bar → Click “Normal” dropdown → Choose “Heading” for H2
- Use “Subheading” for H3 sub-points
Why this matters: NewsPlus template auto-creates a Table of Contents from your H2/H3. Plus Google uses headings to understand your post.
Example post structure:
H2: Why I Started This Blog Normal paragraph text here... H2: What You’ll Learn Here H3: Blogger Basics H3: SEO Tips Normal paragraph text... H2: My Promise to You Normal paragraph text...
Add Paragraphs, Bold, and Lists
Hit Enter twice to add space between paragraphs. Makes reading easier.
Highlight important words → Click B icon for bold like Labels.
Click bullet icon for lists:
- First point
- Second point
- Third point
Step 4: Add Images with Alt Text for SEO
- Place cursor where you want image
- Top bar → Click image icon
- Upload from computer → Choose image
- After upload, click image → Choose size “Medium” and alignment “Center”
- Click image again → “Properties” → Add Alt text
Alt text example: blogger post editor screenshot 2025
Why: Alt text helps your post rank in Google Images and tells Google what the image is about.
Where to Get Free Images
Never use Google Images. That’s copyright strike. Use: Unsplash.com, Pixabay.com, or Pexels.com. All 100% free.
Step 5: Add Labels or Post Won’t Show on Homepage
This is the #1 mistake beginners make. No labels = your post won’t appear in NewsPlus homepage sections.
- Right side panel → Find “Labels”
- Click it → Type:
Basics, First Post - Hit Enter
Rule: Every tutorial post needs at least 1 label. Use labels from your schedule: Basics, Templates, SEO, Monetization, Fixes
Step 6: Add Search Description for Google
- Right side → “Search Description”
- Paste 150 characters describing this post. Example:
Writing my first blog post on Blogger in 2025. Learn how to add titles, headings, images, and labels. Step-by-step beginner guide.
This text shows under your link in Google search results. It decides if people click.
Step 7: Preview Before Publishing
Top right → Click “Preview”. Check:
- Do H2 headings look big and bold?
- Are images centered and not blurry?
- Does Table of Contents appear at top? NewsPlus adds it auto if you have 2+ H2.
- Any spelling errors?
Step 8: Publish or Schedule Your Post
Top right → Click “Publish” dropdown arrow.
Option 1: Publish now → Click “Publish” → Your post is live immediately
Option 2: Schedule → Click “Schedule” → Pick date 11/06/2025, 8:00 AM → “Schedule”. Blogger auto-publishes it even if your laptop is off.
Pro tip: Batch write 5 posts on Sunday. Schedule them Mon, Wed, Fri, Sun, Tue. Your blog runs itself for 2 weeks.
First Post Checklist - Don’t Skip

- ✓ 2+ H2 headings in post

FAQ: First Blogger Post
How long should my first post be?
300-500 words minimum. Google won’t rank posts under 300 words. This post you’re reading is 1200 words.
Can I edit after publishing?
Yes. Posts → Click your post → Edit → Update. Google sees changes in 1-3 days. Edit as many times as needed.
Why isn’t my post on the homepage?
3 reasons: 1. You forgot Labels. 2. You published as “Page” not “Post”. 3. Your NewsPlus section looks for label Featured but you used Basics. Add correct label and it appears.
Can I delete this test post later?
Yes. Posts → Hover on post → Trash icon. But don’t delete. Edit it into a real tutorial like “How I Started Blogging” to keep the Google indexing.
