In this tutorial, you'll connect a custom domain to Blogger in 2025. Follow along and you'll remove blogspot.com forever.
Step 1: Buy a Domain Name First
You need to own a domain before connecting it to Blogger.
- Where to buy: Namecheap, GoDaddy, Porkbun, Cloudflare. $10-15/year
- Name tips: Keep it short, .com preferred, no hyphens or numbers
- Example:
yourblogname.comnotyour-blog-name-2025.com - Wait: After purchase, wait 30 mins before DNS works

Step 2: Add Custom Domain in Blogger Settings
- Blogger → Settings → Scroll to "Publishing"
- Click "Custom domain" → Enter your domain with www:
www.yourdomain.com - Click "Save" → Error appears: "We have not been able to verify..." → Copy the 2 CNAME records
- Important: Use www version.

Step 3: Add DNS Records at Domain Registrar
Go to where you bought domain and add these 4 DNS records.

Namecheap: Domain List → Manage → Advanced DNS
GoDaddy: My Products → DNS → Manage DNS
Step 4: Verify Domain + Enable HTTPS
- Wait 15 mins to 48 hours for DNS to propagate
- Back to Blogger → Settings → Custom domain → Click "Save" again
- Success: Error gone. Domain now shows under Publishing
- Scroll to "HTTPS" → Turn on "HTTPS Availability" → Wait 15 mins
- Turn on "HTTPS Redirect" → Forces http to https

Step 5: Fix Common Custom Domain Errors 2025

Bad practice to avoid: Using free .tk or .ml domains. Google deindexes them fast. Buy .com for $12 = safer for SEO.
Important: After domain connects, submit new sitemap in Search Console: https://www.yourdomain.com/sitemap.xml. Old blogspot.com links auto redirect. Check Settings → Redirect domain → Turn on to redirect non-www to www.
