Not indexed = not on Google. No indexing = zero traffic even if you rank #1.

In this tutorial, you'll check if Google indexed your blog post and fix "not indexed" errors. Follow along and you'll get posts into Google in 24 hours.

Step 1: Check Index Status in 10 Seconds

Use this method to check any post instantly.

  1. Copy your blog post URL
  2. Go to google.com → Type site:your-post-url
  3. Indexed: Your post shows in results → Done
  4. Not indexed: "Your search did not match any documents" → Go to Step 2

Step 2: Use Google Search Console URL Inspection

Search Console shows exact reason why post isn’t indexed.

  1. search.google.com/search-console → Select your property
  2. Top search bar → Paste post URL → Enter
  3. Check status:

Step 3: 5 Reasons Google Won’t Index Your Post

  1. New blog: Google takes 1-4 weeks for new sites. Be patient
  2. No internal links: Orphan post with zero links from other posts = Google can’t find it
  3. Thin content: Under 300 words = Google calls it "low quality"
  4. Blocked by robots.txt: Settings → Crawlers → Custom robots.txt → Check if post URL blocked
  5. Manual action: Search Console → Security → Manual actions → Check penalties

Step 4: Force Google to Index Your Post Fast

Don’t wait 4 weeks. Use these 3 tricks to index in 24hrs.

  1. Request Indexing: Search Console → URL Inspection → "Request Indexing" → Wait 10 mins
  2. Share URL: Post link on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest → Google crawls social signals
  3. Internal links: Edit 3 old posts → Add link to new post → Google re-crawls old posts + finds new
  4. Sitemap: Search Console → Sitemaps → Submit sitemap.xml if not done

Step 5: Check Full Blog Index Status

  1. Google search: site:yourblog.blogspot.com
  2. See number under search bar: "About 45 results" = you have 45 posts indexed
  3. Compare with total posts in Blogger → Posts → If missing 10+, you have indexing issue
  4. Search Console → Pages → See "Not indexed" reasons chart

Bad practice to avoid: Clicking "Request Indexing" 20 times a day. Limit is 10-15 URLs per day. Spam = slower indexing.

Important: Indexing ≠ ranking. Indexed just means Google saved your page. Ranking takes 2-8 weeks. Check indexing every Monday for new posts. Fix "Crawled - not indexed" by adding images, videos, and 1200+ words.
