Not indexed = not on Google. No indexing = zero traffic even if you rank #1.
In this tutorial, you'll check if Google indexed your blog post and fix "not indexed" errors. Follow along and you'll get posts into Google in 24 hours.
Step 1: Check Index Status in 10 Seconds
Use this method to check any post instantly.
- Copy your blog post URL
- Go to google.com → Type
site:your-post-url - Indexed: Your post shows in results → Done
- Not indexed: "Your search did not match any documents" → Go to Step 2

Step 2: Use Google Search Console URL Inspection
Search Console shows exact reason why post isn’t indexed.
- search.google.com/search-console → Select your property
- Top search bar → Paste post URL → Enter
- Check status:
Status What It Means Fix URL is on Google Indexed. Good Nothing. Wait for ranking URL is not on Google Not indexed Click "Request Indexing" Discovered - not indexed Google found but didn’t crawl Improve content quality Crawled - not indexed Google saw low quality Add 500+ words, images
Step 3: 5 Reasons Google Won’t Index Your Post
- New blog: Google takes 1-4 weeks for new sites. Be patient
- No internal links: Orphan post with zero links from other posts = Google can’t find it
- Thin content: Under 300 words = Google calls it "low quality"
- Blocked by robots.txt: Settings → Crawlers → Custom robots.txt → Check if post URL blocked
- Manual action: Search Console → Security → Manual actions → Check penalties

Step 4: Force Google to Index Your Post Fast
Don’t wait 4 weeks. Use these 3 tricks to index in 24hrs.
- Request Indexing: Search Console → URL Inspection → "Request Indexing" → Wait 10 mins
- Share URL: Post link on Twitter, LinkedIn, Pinterest → Google crawls social signals
- Internal links: Edit 3 old posts → Add link to new post → Google re-crawls old posts + finds new
- Sitemap: Search Console → Sitemaps → Submit
sitemap.xmlif not done
Step 5: Check Full Blog Index Status
- Google search:
site:yourblog.blogspot.com - See number under search bar: "About 45 results" = you have 45 posts indexed
- Compare with total posts in Blogger → Posts → If missing 10+, you have indexing issue
- Search Console → Pages → See "Not indexed" reasons chart
Bad practice to avoid: Clicking "Request Indexing" 20 times a day. Limit is 10-15 URLs per day. Spam = slower indexing.
Important: Indexing ≠ ranking. Indexed just means Google saved your page. Ranking takes 2-8 weeks. Check indexing every Monday for new posts. Fix "Crawled - not indexed" by adding images, videos, and 1200+ words.
